The Performance Company in Northampton hosted a Mazdabeat meet at the company’s smart premises with an impressive 60 MX5s of all shapes and sizes turning up to sample Perfco’s legendary hospitality and kick back with a genuinely relaxed vibe. Owners came from all over the UK, not only ensuring an eclectic mix of the diminuitive roadsters, but also a great buzz. With food laid on and a DJ spinning the tunes, it didn’t take long to descend into a full-on party atmosphere. Mitsubishi specialist, Simon Norris set a new world record at a Test and Tune event at Northamptonshire’s Santa Pod raceway recently making his previously bogie green – now white – short wheel-base beasty the World’s quickest Evo over the quarter mile. The time was an insane 8.22 seconds at 169.17mph!
