From the Editor…
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. It may have been penned 415 years ago, but the quote from William Shakespeare’s play Twelfth Night seems very apt when you begin thumbing your way through this latest issue. You see, some cars are simply great straight out of the factory. They tick all the boxes and become best sellers in their respective segments. While others achieve greatness over time, where a model perhaps didn’t have such an explosive impact at its launch, but has subsequently grown to be loved and admired years later as a collectors’ item or a classic. Then there are the ones that have had their greatness thrust upon them, whether they like it or not. Cars like the four Nissan Skylines featured on page 46. Some would argue that they are all great models in their own right, but once touched by the hand of tuning icon Smokey Nagata of renowned Japanese tuning house Top Secret, they are somehow elevated into that legendary status of icons. Read all about these incredible era defining cars and you’ll see what we mean.
Another legend in its lifetime was the Subaru Impreza WRC cars that dominated the rally scene for 15 years…
This legacy of motorsport greatness is not something that is lost on Tim Bedford, who has transformed his humble Hawkeye into a 680bhp WRC recreation of these very same mud-slingers. See it for yourself inside this issue. We’ve also got an aero-tuned Mazda RX-7 built by one-time JGTC winners RE Amemiya, plus a behind the scenes recap on what went down when exhaust gurus Milltek Sport took their race-prepared GT86 to compete in the infamous Nürburgring 24hr. And if that’s not enough we’ve got tech guides on alignment and induction kits, a tour of the Eibach factory, and a massive six-page SEMA report! So what are you waiting for? Get stuck in and maybe some of this issue’s legendary greatness will rub off on your next build.
